Postpartum Doula Offerings
Newborn Education — all the essentials (and the nitty gritty). Helping you understand your unique baby. We’ll cover newborn development, diapers, swaddles, baths, safe sleep, hunger cues, bonding, and babywearing — and anything else that comes up along the way. There are no dumb questions here.
All Things Feeding — however you choose to feed your baby. All the up to date info and best practices on breastfeeding/chestfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, formula prep & milk storage. We’ll find what works best for you and your baby.
Feeding YOU — because recovery takes fuel. Meal and snack prep, plus gentle reminders to eat and drink (because even small acts of care matter). My approach to postpartum nourishment is very TCM inspired — warming ingredients, slow-cooked soups/stews, and galactagogues that help nourish and heal your body. Fun fact: breastfeeding parents need 2,000–2,800 calories & 16 cups of water per day to maintain milk supply.
Time To Yourself — if you so please! An opportunity to take a bath, have a nap, have quality time with your partner, go to an appointment, or visit with a friend for that much needed hug. Whatever it is you need.
Emotional Support — because the emotions will be emoting! I’ll be there to listen and hold space for whatever is coming up for you, completely judgement free.
Let Me Do That — hand over that to do list! Laundry, dishes, nursery organization, the afternoon dog walk. The goal is to keep your home running smoothly, even when everything else is feeling rather…bumpy.

Daytime Care
Baby Care — so you can begin to leave that sleep deprived state behind. The details vary depending how you feed your baby, but the intention is to hand over as much responsibility as possible so you can truly rest for the night. Feeds, diapers, bottle washing, pump sterilization, milk storage, and putting your baby back to sleep (iykyk).
Rest for the Whole Family — however “family” looks to you. Moms, dads, partners, grandparents, older kiddos, pets—everyone benefits from a full nights rest. And yes, I am always happy to take one for the team and snuggle the dog!
Feeding Support — for the breastfeeding and pumping parents. A comforting companion during those sometimes lonely nighttime sessions. I’ll bring baby to you when they’re ready, make sure you’re comfortable, have water and a snack nearby, and help with positioning. When baby is finished, you head straight back to bed. Leave the burping, diapers, and settling back to sleep to me.
The Rest of It—if baby’s schedule approves. When your baby is sleeping soundly (yes, it can happen!) you’ll find me fitting in some light meal prep, baking, taking care of the laundry & putting away the dishes. I’ll make sure you and your home feel ready for the day ahead.
Regular Check Ins — your time to talk and be heard. We’ll start every shift with a check-in. Think of it as an opportunity to discuss your day, your wins (so we can celebrate!), any questions or challenges that are coming up, and discuss priorities for the night.
Overnights starting at $45.00/hour + GST

About Kristy
Hi, I’m Kristy Sawatzky, a postpartum doula here to support you through the first weeks and months of parenthood. My work is all about care, nourishment, and creating space — for you, your baby, and the rhythms of your new life together.
I feel honoured to support families on the unceded and ancestral homelands of the the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. I carry a deep respect for this land into everything I do. Lady of the Sun began as a small-scale farm in the sunny Okanagan. While I have transitioned away from farming (for now) and into the doula realm, I’ve been continually amazed at how similar these two practices are. Just as I once cared for the soil, plants, and ecosystems with dedication, attention, and love, I now care for families with the same intention and heart.
At the core of my work is supporting parents in ways that feel empowering, compassionate, and accessible. From overnight care and feeding support to simply holding space for emotions (or holding your baby), I’m here to help your family feel steady, supported, and nourished— one day, and one night, at a time.

“Kristy quickly became an integral part of our routine, blending seamlessly into our home and showing deep empathy for my needs” - Reena T.
Service Boundaries
While I love supporting families throughout the Lower Mainland, there are many factors I consider when booking clients — including distance, timing, and (of course) Vancouver traffic! My primary service areas are: North Vancouver, West Vancouver, East Vancouver (including Mount Pleasant) & Downtown Vancouver. If you’re outside my usual service area, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Depending on your location, needs, and my availability, it may still be possible for us to work together. And if it isn’t the right fit logistically, I’m always happy to refer you to trusted doulas who are closer to your area.
